Leonardtown, Maryland – A recent article by U.S. News & World Report highlights Maryland’s efforts to improve access to health care in underserved areas of the state including Lexington Park in St. Mary’s County. The article features programs initiated and sustained by MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital as well as other community partners such as the St. Mary’s County Health Department.

Approximately $15 million was awarded to five zones in the state between 2013 and 2016 to help identify and fund initiatives to break down barriers to health care.
